Does anyone happen to know the date for the US launch of the e61?
What engines will be available?
SMG an option available in the US?
Finally, what're the chances of getting the M Sport package for the touring?

Hi Uter,
I remember reading something about mid '05. Then again in another article, it was mentioned that BMW might wait to have the all wheel drive X version ready before launching in the US. But taht probably would be too far out...
Re engines, guess that 530/545 would be the 2 available, Mercedes seems to be doing well with the E SW. When I was in NYC it seemed the new version seemed very popular

My dealer said that it will be coming out around the same time as the new 3 series. It will be out as 2006 model though.

If it's only the 2.5, that'd be a real shame.
Also, there's talk that the only drivetrains in the US will be the AWD.

The E61 is supposed to arrive in the US late spring along with the E90 3 series, both will be early 2006 models. As far as I know, the Touring will only be offered as a 530xiT in the US - with the new 250hp I-6 engine. This is why it was delayed, so that BMW could send just one, middle of the road model (not 525, not 545) to the US. The Touring is a niche model for the US, sales are very low, so BMW NA wisely wants to simplify the order process, so the AWD will be standard, and only one model available.

bmwusa.com states that European Delivery requires a 3-month lead-time to fulfill an order. Do you think it will be possible to order an E61 in advance of its release or only in late spring for late summer pickup? Is the pricing information available for it yet?
I can't wait!!!

My Ride: 2005 530i - Alpine white with auburn interior; tip, xenon, pdc, sirius, prem, cold weather, red reflectors and xpel.
At this point its hard getting any definitive response. I have also been told late Spring which will be too late for me. I doubt it will be earlier since there is no pricing or ordering information available.
Hopefully, more more definitive information will be released this coming week at the Detroit Auto show (debut).
