Advice on a service package for high milage use
#1
Hello,
New to the forum and new to my BMW 535d which I pick up tomorrow. This car will be doing 120 of mainly motorway driving 4 days a week and its not a company car. I have been offered the standard BMW servicing package which covers me for 5 years or 60, 000. Unfortunately, I will do 60 , 000 a long time before 5 years. Despite this is it a sound financial deal to get the cover ( I think cost is 1370 or something) or pay per service as i rapidly chalk up the miles
Your advice is much appreciated

Welcome.
My guess is that you are actually better off paying as you go. A number of items (e.g. brake fluid, coolant, wiper blades, microfilters) will be replaced largely on a time-elapsed basis, but they have been priced into the package assuming 5 years of car life. So you'd be paying for stuff that will never be replaced (well, not for free) on your car.
OTOH, it's a big psychological relief to know that "it's all paid for" for the next couple of years, and the difference won't be huge (say about ?400 over the five years).
Bear in mind - this is largely a guesstimate based on my E39's servicing bills; haven't yet had the pleasure with the E61 (which I bought second hand with the 5-year maint package).
