Good on you!

Had a similar dilema; 330d vs. 520d = 6 vs. 4 cyl.
The engine sound isn't going to win any prizes, but the overall package in it's price range is hard to beat.

I actually considered a 3 series but it is "less" of a car comared to the 5. At least if you have a family with two small kids and love road trips ;-).

And it's not available with the superb automatic tail gate.

Congrats. Looks like an excellent choice. I would opt for a 5 over a 3 at all times. A 3 is simply not for us tall Northern Europeans. Have fun. My new toy is due in 5 days and I can not wait.

5 days! Plan a 2000 km trip to run it in immeadetly!

I'm a bit surprised by my own choice; two years ago I would have picked a car with bigger engine but less equipment, today the situation is the opposite.

Getting older, I guess.

Did you try it with the step or just manual?
/M
Only the Manual. The Step option had a crazy price increase with my co. car leasing rate - probably due to extra fuel costs and no re-sale benefit - so didn't even try it. As it happens, the 6 cyl. models with Step are better in the leasing rates. Tested Step with the 330d and also in a friends 525d. It really suites the relaxed 5 series driving feel, but I still prefer driving Manual, so more than happy with my choice.

I hear you! That was my opinion until I test drove the 520d. I've had two 3 series back to back now and just fancy something different. THe 520d is as quick as my 320d, so don't have to take a hit on the performance front. In a couple years when I change my co. car again, I'll probably fancy something sportier/quicker again, so I'm pretty confident the 330d will be top of the shopping list!

I totally agree and like the e92 not really e90.
but sorry guys, but how can any compare a 3 series with a 5er??? No offence but engine is only one thing, they are in different segment for different needs, and ppl.

So if you want to take off I would say the best is 330 xd, than lower it a bit and the e60 is a family or lux sedan.
