My Ride: 2006 530xiT Titanium Silver, 6-speed Manual, new style Start/Stop ignition, Black Dakota Leather, anthracite maple wood trim, heated seats front and rear, heated steering wheel, headlight washers, automatic tailgate, auto dimming mirrors, Logic 7, 6-disc changer, sport seats, shadow line trim, rear sun blinds, PDC, adaptive xenons, 18" style 123 wheels, , navigation, voice control, bluetooth, BMW roof rack + bike attachments,
Thumbs up

All the information on this forum I have read regarding staggered wheel sizes for Xi cars is that it should not be done because the x-drive won't work properly. Now you can build a car on the BMW website and get staggered wheel sizes when you choose the sport package. What is different about Xi cars now, that you can us staggered sizes.

Not true. I've done it and it works fine. The X5 4.8i Sport has staggered wheels. Our xdrive system is the same. It works fine.

Agree!
But be careful. Advanced 4-wheeldrive systems must have the same circumfence front and rear.
How sensitive the x-drive is I do not know. . .
But as it is a fairly complexed system I think you should talk to your dealer before you choose different circumfence.

What's weird is that the only mention of staggered tires is via the Build Your Own on bmwusa.com. If you look in the "Features & Options" section, it shows:

18 x 8.0 Star Spoke (Style 124) cast alloy wheels, 245/40R-18 run-flat performance tires

Also, the 2008 5 Sport Wagon PDF lists 245/40R-18 on the 18" as well, so I think it's misinformation in the BYO.

I will be able to verify in approximately two weeks.

So... what did you get? I got same size all around (245's).

cmansbimmer, so you put 245f & 275r and no problems so far? Did you check w/ BMW dealer first to make sure no warranty issue in the future due to wheels?

What's the offset do you use?

Hmm, I remember posting about my wheels and tires, but it must have been in another thread. Whoops.

Yup, they're 245's all around on the 18" wheels.

The spec for offset (18x8 wheel) is ET43 for 535xiT. Has anyone tried ET38 offset?

[edit] Never mind; I've found the other thread that answers the offset question (ET35 has been successfully used on 530xi).
