Nice to see another owner here with grand plans. Forum is a bit dead but apparently there just weren't many E61s sold to warrant lots of post traffic.
I totally agree with losing the chromey bits around the windows. At some point I'll either paint mine or have them vinyl wrapped in black to avoid them being a distraction from an otherwise awesome body style.
As for lowering, I hate to mess with anything too much involving ride quality and/or possible tire wear issues, so I'm more than content to continue at stock ride height. I used 3-series 8.5" wide wheels with a different offset that pushed the wheels out another half inch to fill thewheel wells better, and once these 225 tires wear out I'll put some 245s on it to toughen it up a bit more.
Just arrived and was checking out post about E61 I really disappointed by hearing forum is dead.
I don't think having a E61 is something to take pride in. It's not like it's a badge of honor or anything. It's just another car, and there are so many other cars out there that you could have.
I agree with you that vinyl wrapping your windows chromy bits is is great but in my opinion should not be in black acording your car colour they should be metallic blue
I need to ship my new 7 series from Miami to San Fran California. I am looking at a company Long Distance Towing they quoted me $2800 to ship it enclosed. Reliable and Plycon were $4700, has anyone used them? https://longdistancetowing.com/enclo...hipping-a-bmw/
