Hello everybody !
In january I traded my X5 for a E61, and loving it!
The only mismatch I made was ordering the car with the (in Holland) standard 16" 225/55 (Styling 134)wheels.
It feels that the car is a bit nervous in the straight line (it needs little corrections all the time).
I'm now considering buying 17" (styling 138) or 18" (styling 124 front an rear 245/40)
Can you advise me or tell me your experiences (they both come with run flat tires).
The styling 134 I'm going to use for winter tires.
Thanks in advance !
Greetz, Hans.

Wellcome the the board Hans!
I would go for 18''. Imo it looks nicer and you do not lose too much comfort compared with 17''. If you have the option to buy non runflat tires, then I strongly recommend you to do so. There are various topics on this board where you can read about the runflat problems. I just changed to non runflats and the ride is not only much smoother and quieter but also the driving dynamics improved a lot. Fyi I have Pirelli P Zero Rosso now and used to have the Dunlop runflats..
Good luck with your decision.
Cheers Arnold

My Ride: 2011 520dA coming up.
Welcome fellow Dutch E61 driver.
I have an E61 with the 124 rims.
DON"T get the runflats when you have the choice.
You already have a spare wheel which is one big advantage (doesn't come with runflats from the factory)
Get your rims with something like the Goodyear F1 Eagle.
They are relatively comfortable (runflats are rockhard), a lot cheaper, handle 100% better, and last twice as long.
Just my opininion. Do a search and you will find lots of information here.
If you need more info, you can PM me in Dutch.

Thank you all for the warm welcome !!
I was thinking about taking the 124's with RFT's, but after your comments (and some searching at the forum), I'm thinking to take the 124's with michelin pilot's.
Michelin generally have a comfertable ride with good durability.
Or should I take for example the goodyear F1 Eagle (garehaan, your car looks beatifull).
Quickin, do you have pictures of your car with the 275's at the rear ?
How does it handle in the wet ?
Greetz,
Hans

Cannot find the test between the top-end tires now but i remember they were the most comfortable. Note that all tires in the top-end price range are of course best quality but each tire has its own character/specialty. Its a matter of personal taste.
