Will be the first winter with the 530xiT and started shopping for a set of winter wheels and tires. Does anyone know if I can fit 16" BMW wheels on my 2007 530xiT? I have the sport pack as an option.

IMHO the optimal winter wheel size is 17" .... 16" wheels may not clear the brake disc etc. And the selection of the proper fitment (esp offset) is likely better in the 17" size too - esp original equip types since many people upgrade their original 17" sizes to larger 18" or even larger.

As an alternative view my 530d M Sport (not X drive though) is sporting 16" wheels with Dunlop Winter Sport SP tyres.
Although I believe they're actually 3 series wheels, they're one of the official winter wheel set ups for the 5 from BMW so I wasn't worried about any clearance issues.
Makes buying tyres cheaper than having an 18" winter wheel set up too.
They do look small on the car - but that doesn't bother me as much as getting stranded would.

Yes, in Europe the 16 inch wheels on E61 are quite common, obviously also because of the smaller engines offered as well.
I also have 16 inch OEM wheels in the winter because of a) bad roads, and b) in deep(er) snow thinner wheels have more traction as they "plough" through the snow (and the 16-inch 225-series tyre is the thinnest tyre available for the E61).

You have an Xi, so you need 17" I'm afraid. 16" was only for 530 pre-LCI and not for X-drive models. From MY2007 and onwards it's 17" for both RWD and 4WD.
