No offense to any of you with the newer e60's, but I've not been able to wrap myself around the style 172's offered on the '08 & '09 550 cars with the sport package, and really prefer the 124's. I guess they seem closer to the 166's that make the M5's so hot. %The 172's seem closer to the wheels on the MB 550!

Anyhow, I'm just curious what the rest of you think.

As my lease return date draws near, I wonder about getting a newer 550, and switching the wheels with my present ones, and returning my car with the 172's on it. But, I'm guessing BMW might catch on.

I could have had any wheel I wanted and I chose the 172's on my 520d sport and I love them!

What does one have to do to legally move to Australia? I'd love to live there...

The ten-legged tarantula look of the 172 is cool, but I like the 124s. One of the first e60s I saw had them, and got a set within a few months of purchase (had stock 138s).

Get the 166's with the M6 offset. Mount the TPMS and tires from the 172's. Sell the 172 wheels. Cheap mod.
+1

I just switched to the M172s from the M166s, but only because of spacer/fitment/winter-wheel reasons. The M166s are still my favourite OEM rims... especially on a carbon black E60 m-sport!

On my E60s I put the factory rims (M135s) in storage and fitted the M166s, then fitted the M135s back on again when it was time to return my company car to the leasing company.

One more vote for the 124's. The 172's are nice, but they would go better on an M3, in my opinion. the 124's are simple, elegant and sporty all at the same time. I have my eye on a set of staggered 124's....should have them on by next weekend.

LoL.

Im confused now. My car came with 124s but I really like 172's. Maybe we can trade instead. The 172's fit a 2009 535i perfectly right?

At first I didn't like the 172s and loved the 124s... BUT Now I LOVE the 172s!!! I also still love the 124s, but I'm totally regretting not getting either the M-Sport option for my 09 535i or ponying up and getting the 550 Sport. Oh well... There is always the next car.
