Just put these RT5's on my car thanks to Charles at Wheel Autohaus. I think I'm going to lower the car. The gaps from the tire to the fender is killing me. Let me know what you guys think. Anyone have pics of their lowered E60's please post them.

Here is a good example of my old M3 lowered....no Gaps.

You can lower them but I think it ok, do not forget that E60 wheel space is HUGE even w 20" s it look like that. But it is up to you to see what comfort you need.

Put 2-4cm front-rear H&R.

Yeah you're right about lowering. This will affect my ride dramatically, as with my previous car (M3). It bounced all over the place. From what I hear, M3 shocks are alot more stiffer than E60's therefore my E60 probably won't be as bouncy. I'm going to bring the car to a specialist this weekend. If I lower it I may have to roll the fenders so that the 20's don't rub.

Thank you for the detailed input.

Adrian

Prodigal545i,

Looks like you've got the Sport Package suspension on your car. If so, aftermarket springs won't lower the car too much more. Maybe 0.75 - 1.25 inches all around, but this will vary even from car to car.

The most cost effective way is to get H&R's or Eibach's lowering springs. You won't give up a lot (if any) feeling in ride quality.

Prodigal545i,
Can you confirm that you do have the Sports Package and what size wheels/tires you got? I'm putting 20x9 and 20x10 rims with 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 tires on this week and I have the Sports Package. If mine will look like yours, I will probably be happy with it. I think that ride height better suits the e60 as a luxury sports sedan just as the lowered look on you M3 fits its image as a sportier coupe. Hope my reasoning makes sense.

BTW, very nice and clean looking car. I was looking at those RT5s in black also.

To me, your appearance gains would be quite small, and your potential for aggravation goes way up--alilgnment, camber, rattles, scratches and nicks on your wheels on install, dealer issues. I'm going the same route as you, 20" on OE sport, but plan on putting the M front bumper cover on to increase the "lower" illusion. Just my thoughts...
