My guess would be it puts a resistor in-line making the O2 sensor think the engine is running lean and thus the ECU dumps more fuel into the Mix.

You guessed right. "The device modifies voltage signals, as if the exhaust gas would be fuel-poor. ECU let more fuel to the injectors while the mass of free air is the same."

That curiosity will kill the cats. Literally.

But I also notice the following with interest: "We can only feel a refreshed engine, dynamic acceleration without terrible flat pots". So it's useful as a cooking device or a planting implement too. Great. I want 3 dozen.
