Hi all,

I recently got the m5tech kit for my e60 from a guy on craigslist named Robert in North Hollywood. When I looked him up, most of his customers were from the e39 forums and they seemed pretty satisfied. He says all of his bumpers are made of PP, OEM like quality and perfect fit. And on the ad, there was a white e60 with the same kit and it looked great. Anyways, I got the m5tech front and mtech rear installed, but I am not completely satisfied with the front alignment/fit. I know I should have waited to buy from Umnitza when I go back to the Bay Area next month, but I'm impatient...

Now, there is too much space in between the bumper and the bottom of the headlights, and it is misaligned where the bumper meets the fenders. While it's not terrible, it is noticeable to us e60 owners and anyone who fully examines the car. I think the problem is it was never dry fitted. I drove to the shop one day to drop off my gas cap for paint match, and came back a few days later for install. When presented with the installed product, I was told that's just how it is with aftermarket/replicas, which is very true. However, looking at everyone's nearly perfect Umnitza and Trinity kits, I was wondering if any of you had similar issues and if adjustment is possible, or if it is just a crappy bumper and I eat it. Has anyone here heard of or purchased kits from Robert (818) 605-4429 in SoCal? Anyone in LA area willing to give a helping hand? I will happily drive to you.

All advice would be appreciated. Anyways it's an 2009 LCI with PDC and sports package. Pictures are attached. Thanks in advance.

you may have to trim off some of the foam bumper crash pad for a better fit if they didn't do so. also others have put washers under the attachment bolts to lift up the bumper and reduce gaps

Those washers sound like a good idea. Do you know how trimming the foam makes a better fit? Where does this usually improve it? Thanks

it does look as if the bumper foam wasnt trimmed. i would take a look at that first. funny i saw that guys ad on Craigslist too. in the end i got my kit from a local member selling his that got his through trinity, i didn't want to run into that situation.

removing the bumper is extremely easy, i also installed mine forgetting about the trim foam and it was quite uneven, after i realized about the foam piece, it fit perfect. good luck.

the link is somewhat helpful, but I don't think I have the same gap between the bumper and the hood. Roskinc, do you remember where exactly the issues were before shaving the foam?

First of all, all of those aftermarket bumpers were produced for pre-LCI and to fit LCI there is a little work that has to be done. Foam crash pads need to be trimmed like mentioned. Side wing bracket that receives the bumper wing needs to be removed, and dry fitted to the bumper then trim away the material on the bumper side so that it will lock correctly in place. The rear needs three new bracks if that becomes a problem. My guess is this shop did want to spend any time messing around with it. Why don't you do it yourself? There are a few good DIY's on here and it's not hard at all.

I recently saw your post about your m5 kit you purchased from robert last year. I see his post on craigslist also and was thinking about going with him, but after seeing your post..idk anymore. Can you answer some questions for me about this guy and his bumpers though? I'd REALLY appreciate it....

1) We're you able to fix your gap problem?

2) Did you just purchase the front m5 bumper or did you get the entire kit from Robert (front, Mtech or M5 sides, and Mtech or M5 rear)??

3) Was it the front bumper ONLY that had fitment issues? Did the sides and rear fit perfectly?

4) Did you have them do the paint for you as well? How did the paint come out in matching with the rest of your car?

Please help a fellow e60 partner out. I'm just like you a little impatient and what Robert is offering in price is REALLY good. But now may not be worth it....
