My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.

I am not a big K&N fan. I would just remove the charcoal filter element which is for emissions and it will give you more flow.
The best would be the Dinan CAI and throttle body.

Call up BMW parts and find out if the 545i and 550i have the same air cleaner element part number. That should tell you.
