Quick question. Do the louvers come out separately?
There is a pair of matt black grilles on sale here through Craigslist, but it looks like they are all black. If I could replace the louvers with my chrome/black louvers that would be awesome?

the outer edge and the inner slats are 2 separate pieces. You can mix and match whenever you're bored with the look. That's what I'm doing right now. Had the black inner slats on for awhile but recently switched back to the OEM inner slats.
Make sure the ones you're buying is the quality ones though. I read here that the quality of the cheaper ones aren't as good that's why lots of people buy the matte black from Trinity since it's OEM spec.

Thanks for the advice & info. Other than looking flimsy and cheap...is there any other way of telling the quality?

i just put gloss black on my monaco blue and love it. i'm not a big fan of matte personally as sometimes it looks dirty or unfinished.

well, the moon and the stars aligned for me today.
I posted this thread yesterday and I have black grilles installed today! Found a local guy on Craigslist who accidentally ordered 2 sets off of eBay. They are decent quality and thanks to the forum directions got them installed with help from a neighbour who was more than happy to lend a hand & check out my car. ;-)
Monday it goes in for a window tint and then I am off on an 18 hour road trip through the mountains...and will be look'n good doing it! ;-) I will take some pics when I get back after I scrape all of the bugs off the new grilles. lol
Cheers

I used to have matte black...it did look kind of cheap to me. Looked like I threw cheap plastic on a luxury car. If you want black, go for gloss black.
Right now, I went back to stock chrome on the outside with matte inside since I'm trying to go for the classy\sporty look.
