I know there is air filter offered by K&N, a CIA kit by AFE and the ultra expensive high flow air intake by Dinan. Which is my best bet? I want more out of this glorious V8. Also what are some other mods that will really make this baby get up and go?

Anything is helpful boys

youre best bet is to get a BMC filter, RPI scoops and maybe a tune or flash with RPI exhaust

thats really all you can do for our engines without a SC or turbo

you can run a search, there are numerous thread about the AFE making a loss in power due to heat soak. best intake setup would be the RPI scoop and an aftermarket air filter. we have the scoops in stock as well

Open air intakes on modern BMW are extremely overrated in my personal experience. These intakes make for great dynos but in real world situations, where you actually drive with the hood closed and the engine is under constant heat stress they do not provide anywhere close to advertised gains.

Modern BMWs have extremely well designed closed intake designs and the best way to usually improve on these designs is to:
1. Increase overall volume
2. Use a panel hi flow replacement filter
3. Add/modify the boxes for better air flow (read scoops)

you could also consider the DIY dinan style intake mod:

AFE is the way to go + be sure that you have good airflow (you can add scoops) and maybe hood with openings to extract hot air (when car is in slow motion)
Air coming from outside does not have time to warmup when you ride!
