Would you recommend E60 M5?

550i is not an option.

I really like my 550 but I wish I could spend the extra dough on a M5 or swap with a M5 leasee who had gotten a good deal on one.

The M5 is a tremendous car, but given the car you're coming from and what you're likely to have to invest in the upgrade to an M5 you ought to consider the C63. It's exponentially better than the standard C-Class. The E63 is also well worth a look. It rarely gets the credit it deserves on here, but it's a match for the M5 in most respects - it loses out in some areas, it's arguably better in others.

E63 is faster than the M5 in a straight line but not as good a handler. The low-end power and torque are better in the C63 and E63 than in M5.
Both are worth a look though. I prize handling so it would be M5 for me if money was no object. But if I lived in a place without much in the way of twisties (like South Florida), I might very well get the E63.
