What are you going to do about the front license plate? Illinois requires them. Are you going to take your chances and hope not to get pulled over, or will you ruin the bumper and the overall looks and put the plate in?
Good point. I ran my 550i here in IL for 3 years without a front plate with no hassels. Then about 6 months ago, they started ticketing cars parked at O'Hare without front plates ... so I added one to the 550i.

So I'm going to have to add one to the M5. I was thinking about trying this mounting system.

Nice! Awesome upgrade!! SMG makes it even sweeter!!!
Rudy, you got that right ... SMG is fantastic. I was concerned about making the switch from Steptronic to SMG because you read so much about how the M5 SMG is jerky and tempermental. Bunk. I find it completely serviceable even in the D mode (automatic), and in manual mode ... . This is way too much fun. Those blips on downshifts are aural sex.

It's really simple - just drive it like the manual transmission that it is, and you will not have any problems.

WOW! I don't think that could of worked out any better for you. Sold your 550 the very next day of posting it up... Picked up an M5, and drove it home not even a week later! That is awesome. Congrats the car looks stunning.

Nice upgrade! Hearing the signature V10 wail more than compensates for it's excessive lack of fuel economy. After 13 months with my 08 M5, it's been trouble-free from the start. Congrats!
