Not a chance.

Huge modifications on the CLS (see Kleeman or the like) or the M5 was driven by a 5yr old.

Likely to be a fairly close drag race, but the CLS is 30BHP down on the M5, it weighs very slightly more & the torque advantage would not be enough to give it that much of a lead off the line. I've driven a couple of CLS55's (ordered one but cancelled 18mths ago) & my bum dyno indicated they just aint as quick.

Even a CLS63 could not pull that much of a lead from the line.

So either the CLS is heavily modified or the M5 was driven very very badly.

actually the CLS is quite a bit more, at 1920kg EU din

maybe on LC ?

im sure ive sent you this already but >

55AMGs will always perform better when doing a start with ESP on, unless you are VERY good with your right foot

Yep, seen that clip. It will always be close between a 55 & M5 in a drag, but if both starts were perfect, the M5 should always JUST win.

If LC is perfected then that should be the better start for an M5, however it's very very hard to perfect so just mashing the pedal & covering any wheelspin is usually the best way to drag an M5. That said, the CLS in that clip gets a huge jump, so something is wrong somewhere.

Burnouts & LC are 2 very different things. I can spin my rear wheels all day long without any need for LC & no nanny device to stop me assuming i switch the traction controll fully off.

LC is burying the peddle whilst holding off the gear, the car holding 4K RPM's & then letting go of the gear lever to drop the clutch at 4K. It's an awesome toy, but really not that useful.

The M5 is perfect, however i've put her up for sale.

what i meant is that you can get off to a very quick start with a 55 all day long, whereas ///Ms need LC... and i do know what LC is so no worries ... i didnt know you could just spin your wheels with a SMG ///M car ... i mean a manual m3 could, but once equipped with the SMG its no possible... At least i never could :'(

Very wrong. Hundreds of burnout & donut pictures on YouTube, showing M5's spinning for fun. It's not an activity i tend to pursue but whatever floats peoples boats.

Just burying the throttle off the line with DSC off would induce huge wheelspin so some care is needed/throttle control to pull away smoothly but no more care needed than in a 55 with or without traction.

An M5 is NO harder/easier to get off the line than a 55 with our without DSC.

Please understand, LC is for show & has no real purpose other than the giggle factor. The strains on the engine/gearbox are why this is just for show & why BMW chose to block the possibility of doing back to back LC's.
