I finally finished splicing together some video from my trip last year to California in the M5. I travelled SR 199 into Cali from Oregon and then down Highway 1 to Marin County, across the Golden Gate and down the 101 to Ventura where I got back on the PCH all the way into LA. I took a side trip to Malibu Canyon and Piuma Road!!! OMG! If anyone gets a chance to do any part of this trip in their Beast, I highly recommend it!

Available in HD if you click-through to YouTube...

Did you setup two cameras and drove by?

Or drove five times (set up view one, drove by, set up view two, drove by and picked up camera)?

Exactly... I would setup the camera for the approach, drive back out of site and come ripping across the frame... stop, go back and set up the camera for the departure shot, take off back up the road and come by again driving by until I was out of sight and then come back to the camera and pick it up. I would end up recording for about 5 minutes to get 5 seconds of usable video! Sometimes I would have to do it twice if I got unlucky with oncoming traffic.

It would have helped a lot to have a dedicated camera crew, helicopter, and chase car!

What an outstanding video.

The California Coast has been the place of my favorite driving vacations ever.

Want an insane twisty road if you are in the Malibu Canyon area? Try Decker Canyon Road.
