I'm looking to upgrade my car later this year and want something with a bit more oomphhh!

I've currently got the 530d Sport as we had a baby boy 6 months ago and I had to let the M3 go

Now I'm tempted either to upgrade my car to the M5 or potentially move to a 911.

I know I'm probably on the wrong forum but what are people's thoughts on the switch.

Is it worth doing - it's probably going to cost me ?30k to change either way.

I think the M5 is a great choice. If you buy the 911 you will probably need a second car. A relative to me have the 997 carrera convertible and it's pretty impossible to sit in the rear seats on longer distances. Go for the M5. Have you concerned the quattroporte?

Did you consider the M6? It might be a good compromise.

Well if he sells his M3, he probably needs the space.

So i would go for the M5; beautiful car, nice engine and plenty of room

If you ditched your M3 for a 530d, then like me you were clearly being 'Mr Sensible' or at least trying to do so.

Also like me - it sounds like you are now wondering if you took this too far

If you can genuinely afford to run an M5 , then go for it, but in comparison to a 530d it's going to financially hurt....

Otherwise, there are options slightly less sensible than 530d, but much more sensible than M5.

535d anyone ? 540 ? 550 ?

None of these cars are dull.....

If he is in doubt between the M5 and Porsche 911, M6 could be a compromise. <_<

what exactly you want to hear man??? M5 is a matter of money, not reasonable thinking. and you must know better what you can afford.

besides either M5 would be OK as a family sedan or what about a combo of 911 and some cheaper E60 525 Touring for the family???

it is the money that decide here man
