My Ride: 2011 M3 Competition Package, 2006 M5
Updated my 550i to an M5!!
I changed my white 550i for an SMG M5 (Interlagos Blue with Black interiors) last week!! Here's my story. I have always loved M3s.
I have owned the following M3s:
1. 1991 white E30 (was stolen and never recovered)
2. 1995 black/black E36 2 door manual transmission
3. 1998 dakar yellow/black E36 2 door manual transmission
4. 2003 gray/gray E46 2 door SMG
5. And I currently own a 2011 M3 SMG Competition Package 2 door white/red (Which I love by the way!!)
A few years ago when I was in my daily car (2003 M3) I was driving and was hit by a Ford Explorer which caused damage in my rear bumper and trunk. I was thinking of buying a 4 door BMW for daily driving and decided to visit my local BMW dealer and fell in love with a brand new white 550i Sport Package. I repaired my E46 M3 but sold it 1 year later. I loved so much that E60 BMW that since then I was checking out M5s, since I have always been driving M3s. So in the last year I have always been searching for M5s, which by the way are very difficult to find. Only 8,800 were sold in the US. Finally I found an SMG M5 with very low millage, Interlagos Blue Metallic.
I was going to install a quad exhaust and rear M5 style bumper in my 550i, but why not buy an M5 right?
What can I say? I love my 2006 M5!! It is a beast!! I have owned and raced my M3s on the track, and I have also maintained them in pristine conditions. I think most M5s are arriving into the right hands now. I will consider buying the F10 M5 in a near future but I will keep both the M5 and M3, since are the last V10 and V8 naturally aspirated engines.
Here's a photo of my EX 550i. Will post photos of my M5 soon, I am changing the carbon fiber wing rear spoiler it had attached. Installing the OEM lip spoiler back!
My current M3 with my 550. I later installed OEM M5 mirrors.

Glad you upgraded by BUYING an M5, and not just swapping out parts to POSE as an M5 (like me, he, he)
Both of your cars look awesome!
