Trade 08 M5 Black Powder Coated Wheels
First off, what a terrific forum. I appreciate everyone being so supportive.
Im about to pick up this fully loaded 08' M5 with 18K miles. Love everything about it EXCEPT the powder coated black wheels.
Before I spend a few hundred bucks getting the black powder coating removed, I want to see if there is anyone near Houston, TX with clean, original wheels that would like to make a trade. My tires are brand new so we would need to switch them out, but outside of the cost of remounting tires to rims (~$20 per rim) it would be a trade.
If not, Im curious if anyone else has ever removed powder coating from wheels? I guess there is a chemical and/or a sand blasting process. Anyone have experience?
Please let me know if you are interested quickly as Im planning on removing the powder coating next week.
Thanks.

I'm usually against black rims, but they look really good on your car as is.
I have nothing productive to contribute to this conversation, but congrats on the car and it looks great.

i would recommend that you connect with the other specific M5 forum and see if someone is up for a trade. its not easy to remove the powdercoat from your wheels and after doing so they would more than likey need to be refinished back in the OEM color scheme.
i love them as is, but if youre intent on getting rid of them, a trade is your most cost effective method.

Why don't you just machine the face of the wheels? then they would look SICK!!!!
