I wouldn't put too much weight on what he was saying. He was complaining about idrive.....so what I say?....that's very very old news. He really hammers on the radio and explains this long process for changing the radio station back when all he needed to do was hit the steering wheel button down to go back. I think it was meant really to show what M5 becomes in M mode. But I can see your point too....he basically is saying the car is crap when not in M mode. I couldn't disagree more, but the guy is a tool and a 15 year old can do a better review then that.

The guy is one of the most successful automotive presenters and journalists in the business, and he fronts the best car show in production today.

But because you fail to understand his style and his humor, he's a tool?

I've been watching TG since season five and to be quite honest, the show is entertaining. Back in the days, TG was a PROPER car show. As years progress, the show became more about challenges and clever dictations and analogies from Mr. Clarkson. Most (not all) of his reviews are based on cars with high MSRP. Once in awhile they'll review a day to day car.

Fifth gear is an example of a proper car show. No special gimmicks or comments; purely what is good and bad about cars. Sometimes the show feels "boring" after watching TG but the essence of a car review is there.

I love both car shows nonetheless but often time, I opt to watch TG for their entertainment and humor and FG for car reviews.

In regards to Clarkson's review on the M5, its quite obvious that he wasn't familarized with the vehicle before doing his review. For instance the volume control on the steering wheel (he pressed radio station instead of the actual volume button on the left side) and the signal indicator (a soft nudge will cancel the indicator) just to name a few.

Yes this is video has been reposted at least 8 times. This thread would be be considered a 'tony mac' x 4. Needless to say the guys at TG might not approve of the e60 m5 but we here all know that the m5 is the top dog on the road. I have yet to be beaten by a equally matched vehicle. Besides it's just one mans (Jeremy clarkson's) opinion.

As I have said many, many times on here , each of the many, many times that this specific video has been posted, reposted and reposted again, Clarkson loved the car. This review was textbook Clarkson in its format, style and his delivery of the money shot at the end. You won't be able to properly appreciate a Clarkson review (and if you can't you're missing out on perhaps the greatest automotive entertainer of our generation), if you lack the mental capacity to think laterally as well as literally... Clarkson is no John Davis from Motor Week - he does demand that his audience has the ability to read between the lines. His print columns turn all of the above up to 11 - the messaging in his TV work is actually blindingly obvious by comparison...

He is trying to sarcastic, all the bad or negative stuff he says is actually the good stuff, he loves the M5. Its another way of showing that an M5 is one of the best sport sedans.

Clarkson hates anything more than a gob of power and a "proper" manual. He's old school, can't hate him for that. I love that he hates electronic gizmos. It's really funny to watch him describe them.
