On last nights Top Gear, Jeremy test drove a Brabus Monster Roadster (basically an SL63 heavily modified) & although he loved the straight line speed, that aged old proplem of crap handling, chassis & brakes meant it could only manage to equal the E60 M5's TG track lap time
For the doubters (you know who you are) the Brabus ran a dry lap as did the M5 last year & both cars driven by the same Stig.
The shocker is the Brabus puts out 725BHP & 800+ lbsft torque so far more than the M5 yet it handled like an ocean liner & the brakes gave up totally after only a few laps.
Looks as though the M5 yet again rubs dirt in the AMG/Merc/Brabus face. The Brabus would of course win a drag race but JC had to drive very slowly around the corners showing as usual where the Ubber Mercs weaknesses always are.

I'm gettin' on the M train as soon as they do a DSG type box. I was coming back from a ski resort yesterday in a Range Sport Supercharged with a friend of mine in a 530d Schnitzer when an M5 caught up with us. We then drove together about 100 km. The M gave us a couple of full blasts it was a joy to watch.

With the M5 they start with LC, with Alpina they didn't "precharge" the steptronic accelerating keeping the left foot on the brake to precharge the torque converter .
