due to take out an M tomorrow morning.. very excited.

i've priced up a new one and will most certainly pull the trigger (later in the year due to work bonus).

What I have in mind:
Black Saphire
Champagne Merino Leather (individual)
Piano Black trim (individual)
M double spoke 167M (M6 wheels)
Individual Hi-Fi
USB interface
Universal Remote
M Multi Function Seats

the wait will kill me.. at least the test drive will get me by for a while.. or will it make the wait worse?

was very upset...
basically when i got to the dealer, they'd sold the only one they had in the evening before, so NO TEST DRIVE!!!!!
I kicked up a storm and they've agreed to ship one in for me (a post 1200 miler demo), deliver to my door, and leave with me for 24 hours..

so now i am a very happy customer.

big_ipaq - your car sounds sweet. how does the maintenance of a light interior suit you?

I won't deny... It's very very hard. Sometimes I think she owns me not the other way around. I thorougly clean the interiour at least once weekly. I bought tons of cleaning products, and learn to use them. Piano lack schwartz is very sensitive. Any touch will leave a visible finger mark. Dust is very visible.

Also in the first week, I wore a T-Shirt or a belt, which left a stain on my seat. Nobody could remove it. It's still there... Be carefull of what you will be wearing.

Otherwise, I knew all this before buying it. I knew it won't be easy. And I am still very happy with my decision of buying it. So...

Good deal. I've never heard of a dealer here in the US who would leave a demo M5 in your front door and let you drive it around for 24 hours, regardless of whether or not you are buying an M5 from them. Maybe it's different in the UK, or if you are a personal friend of the dealer. But I could never imagine that happening here.

Most UK dealers will not allow their M5's to be used for demos, usually you get to drive a used low miler.
The only salesmen who had driven one when I got mine were those who had been on special courses for the car.

Went in to the showroom to look at the newly released 335 Ci, I got a demo on a new car on the spot.
But I am well known at the dealer (this is my fourth purchase from them) and convinced them I was both serious and responsible.
I drove it about 40 miles and came back the next day with my balance cheque for the extra over my trade-in 330 Ci.

Have owned it now for almost a year, best car I ever had.
It has taken the most effort to really get to know, but the effort is repaid with bonuses.
I would recommend the comfort entry and the Bluetooth phone prep as useful extras which I use every journey.

Today I drove a friends MB AMG C55. No comparison in the accuracy and delightful feel of the M5 steering, or in the way M5 surges through the gears when asked.
