Hey Guys,
I was wondering, as someone who likes to DRIVE
thier M5 alot, and isnt afraid of putting the hammer down.. I have a question. When really pushing the car to high revs and max output, how/or what is the proper way to shift hard? When i say shift hard i mean shift without delay, or as you would with a manual tranny. I have just kept the pedal matted to the floor before, but let me tell you the clunk/bang you hear between 1st and 2nd and 3rd arent comforting. I have always been one to "drive" more aggresively, but also one to be very meticulous of my cars, and take prestigeous care of my cars. This is my first SMG car, and first 500+ Hp car.. and i want to learn all there is to shifting/driving properly lol...
What is the best way to upshift when really pushing the car?
Tiff Needell fro 5thgear simply sais "shift,lift,accelerate".. is this it?
Thanks Guys,
Aartsy

P500S, DSC off, S6, and floor it...
theres no lifting needed. the banging is normal.
you might want to leave the DSC on unless ur ready to get some countersteering on

I have done lots of DSC OFF driving, hence my third set of tires going on in a few weeks in about 15 months of driving (30,000kms). Its actually one thing i love about this car. My brothers' cars (CTS-V, GT500) are both like wild dogs when they get loose and harder to control, but i find that my M5 is so controlable when sliding or controlable with the DSC off... I love how it just fires loose at will, but is still so easy to control the slide.... GERMAN vs. AMERICAN!! I dont think i'll ever go back!

the difference with your brothers cars is the amount of torque they have. they will brake loose much easier and lose control much easier
bmw usually has much higher hp than torque for this reason. easier to control wheel spin. the diff and tranny will be fine with the the banging, its computer controlled even with your foot flat on the pedal it will lift off on its own if it believes it needs to to make a proper shift
