My dealer called me today saying that I can now spec out my car, but I've decided to get a 911S instead so I'll be passing on this order. If anybody wants to order one, lemme know and I'll give you my client advisor's number. As I understand it, these guys are selling at MSRP (near NYC).

Share with us your reason for choosing against the M5. I think that would make for an interesting discussion.

Personally, if I didn't need a four-seater, I may very well do the same.

Well, it wasn't the easiest choice, and it probably wasn't a fair decision, either, because I've not driven an M5 yet. But a couple of months ago, I took a test drive in a 911 C2S and was immediately smitten. At the time, I was still driving my 545i and though I could imagine the M5 being a much faster, better handling version, I just couldn't imagine it handling quite like the rear-engined 911. Add to that the fact that I'm not married (yet -- the gf is pushing for it now) and I figured this might very well be the last time I could own/drive a 2 seater (the rear seats on a 911 are close to useless). On the other hand, if I needed a four-door sedan, it would've been a no-brainer. YMMV.

The 911 is a sweet car. Always will be. Porsche will see to that.
Even though there are back seats (can they really be called that?) you still can't fit a rearward facing baby car seat back there. I know, I know...the little one isn't in the picture yet, but you gotta plan for things like that if you ever decide to tie the knot.
