I checked YouTube to see if anyone has pitted these two against each other yet (those Russians LOVE to drag race BMWs) but found nothing, so I'm just wondering if anyone has seen or heard of any duels between the two cars. I'd love to see a comparison test between them because on paper they are remarkably similar:
E60 M5 curb weight 4,034 lbs
507 HP -- 384 lb/ft torque
0-60 4.1 secs
1/4 mile 12.2 secs @ 118 mph
'14 F10 550i curb weight 4,034 lbs
445 HP -- 480 lb/ft torque
0-60 4.3 secs
1/4 mile 12.4 secs @ 114 mph

That is pretty cool. I love my E60 550i though not in the same league. I was watching a video of the new M550d, oh my god what a torque monster. 386 hp / 545 Tq. There is a YouTube video of this car taking off and the sound and visuals are crazy. Its a bit more tame than an M but the raw torque is crazy.
When you compare the torque numbers of all the turbo cars its so impressive. The only thing i would hate is losing the sound of the v8, v10, etc. I hear turbos are ultra quiet.

put them both on a road course and it is a moot point....m5 romps. the f10 m5, on the other hand, destroys the e60.

What about a tuned F10 550i? Those things put out over 550 hp

Modded 550i recently ran I believe it was at atco, trapped 114mph.. Still not even as fast as a stock e60 M5.. don't forget, there around 4400lbs! E60 instantly has a 400lb advantage to work with, on top of the great gearing and top end.

Currently i am the 1/4 record holder for the F10 550 i have the xi version so my trap is lower of what a rwd car have.. right now i am running BMS stage 1 which is $375 and stage 2 is around the corner +$350.
i am 423 AWHP and 475AWTQ on mustang dyno.
Stage 2 is 463 WHP and 537 WTQ on Dyno Jet on 93 pump... right now the race gas map is being developed.
here is a video of my record run
The weight is what slows this car down a lot.
