For now SMG will be the one and only transmission.
But they are talking about MAYBE bringing a manual tranny later.
But to be honest, on this beautiful beast you HAVE TO go with SMG...

Personally, even though the M5 will supposedly drive like a much smaller car than it is, I'm thinking that a manual transmission would be more cumbersome than anything else for a car that size with that much power.
SMG is probably the best way to go; but I'm sure there will be more than a few opponents to this particular line of BMW's marketing if a true manual isn't ever offered....
