My Ride: 2008 M5, Silverstone II/Black
My new M5 arrived yesterday afternoon. I've just been out for my first blast in it and love it already. It's not perfect - The DAB radio can't pick up a signal, so it's back to the dealer's on Monday. There is no USB cable provided, and BMW's one is ?40, believe it or not. The iPod integration is pretty poor. And of course the fuel disappears so fast I'd better check for a leak (I'd better get used to that). I've already had several thumbs-up from other drivers at the lights, though, so I'm glad that the dealer talked me out of a 550.

As for the iPod/USB cable, that should be provided by the dealer fre-of-charge, if you have that option. And what is poor about the iPod integration? You said you don't even have a cable yet. I think it works great!
As for gas, get used to it. I am averaging about 15.2 mpg, and I haven't even hit my 1200 miles yet. So, it will be more like 12 after that.
Welcome aboard!

First off, congrats on the new ride. It looks awfully familiar.

Gas mileage is frightening - I've done about 80 miles, not a lot I know, but I'm averaging 9.8 mpg (and that's Imperial gallons, not US ones)!

I have a cable coming on Monday, but they certainly aren't free here in the UK. In the meantime I've got other USB/ dock connector cables, which I assumed were the same. Aren't they? If the proper cable improves things I'll be very happy but so far I can only get my iPod shuffle to work at all, and the songs are only identified by their iTunes file (.STEG etc).
The adapter allows for everything to show up and be controlled via the iDrive...all songs, titles, playlists, etc....just as if you were using the iPod itself.
Good luck, and we need more pics!! And throw on some rear 10mm H&R spacers to fill out that wheel well!
