17 year old driving a 335i or m5? wow.. must be nice for the parents to buy you everything eh? I thought i was young (23) with an e60.

The maintenance on the e60 m5 is insane...im at the gas station everyday/every other.. and the general maintenance that comes with buying one out of warranty is a risk.

Go with the 335i+ exhaust, some sick 20's and you'll have the girls chasing you with thier skirts dripping... lol..

Hey guys, i wanted to know your guys advice. Ive recently owned a phoenix yellow E46 till some idiot on the frwy cut me off and slammed on his brakes and i ended up rear ending him and he didn't even have insurance. So I was trying to decide whether i should have my dad buy me an 335i or a 2006 M5 because they are both around the same value. The insurance will be under my parents name so around how much would the insurance be for the m5, and how much would gas cost for about a week i'd probably drive about a 150 miles a week, and the maintenance for this car would it cost up the butt just to service this beautiful car? So i'd like to know your guys advice on this because its a hard decision and sorry folks im not here to bragg, or anything. thanks!
You are one lucky 17 year old.If your parents know what the M5 is capable of,they ought to think twice about you taking the wheel. If you were in the UK no insurance company would add you to your parents policy, minimum age would be 25.

i think this thread is gonna make me puke- seriously...

get the 335 dude, please. like someone said, whats next? im not doubting that your irresponsible or anything, i dont judge cause i dont know you. but i think a 17 year old.. ANY 17 year old for that matter does not belong behind the wheel of a powerful M5. ive also heard the insurance is insane..no way, no how. sorry thats just my opinion..

tune the 335 and screw what big brother has

No offence... but I think parents should not buy a killing machine for their 17 year old son.... both cars are insane enough to push you off the limit before you even notice. Given the accident history with the idiot who cut you off and slammed the brakes, I think you should take it easy and think twice before making such a decision... Just be safe kid.

That's my advice. I am sure it will not sound nice to you, but it has to be said.

Unfortunately, that's quite literal. A 17 year old on m5board.com raced an M5 on a private air strip in FL and killed himself and 4 friends. He actually thought it a good idea to run it on the airstrip away from traffic and snuck in one night. He didn't realize the stopping distance at 150mph and ran off the end of the runway airborne into trees. Quite a tragedy that illustrates the point.

+1 the m5 is a monster. Obviously your dad has fairly unlimited resources to be able to buy you an m5 at 17 but what's the point? What is there to aspire to? I would get the 335 and wait until you establish yourself and buy the m5 with your own money or at worst have your dad buy it for you later in life. To be honest there is not a 17 year old in the world that belongs in an m5. I'm 28 and own a transportation and logistics company and at times drove 100k+ miles yearly and my m5 still scares the crap out of me on occassion. The 335 is a great car and is much more age appropriate. ..............

Having said that get the m5 FTW you're gonna come off as a spoiled rich kid either way so you might as well make it worth it
Couldnt agree with you anymore on that!!!
I dont think his parents are aware of the power of an M5 yet....
If so and they agree, I dont think they want to see him turn 18y.o.!!! j/k
