Its interesting BMW would use the word "trouncing" when comparing its own cars.
I know you know this but you have to keep in mind that BMW didn't say it, an independent dealer did. Sure, they sell BMWs but if they choose to market the M3 in such a way that might hurt M5 sales, that's their choice. I don't think you'll ever see anything official from BMW describing any "trouncing"...

Same here and many people who drive the track prefer the older models (Gutted) of course...

As a new owner of an '08 ///M5, '06 650i, past tester of the E46 style ///M3 and owner of the E46 330Ci with performance package, and on the current list for the new '08 ///M3, we shall see who is 'KING'.

In my book the big dawg (V10) beats'em all since the ///M group always brings it's best to the ///M5 & ///M6. Of course this is my opinion based on some fact but all in all, each has its very own strong heritage and qualities which is the very reason I have all the toys and not just one.

BMW650i, very nice stable of cars! You definatley can do some comparos with the '08 ///M3 vs. the ///M5!

These dealers will say anything to sell their stock. Before i bought my M5, my dealer had 1 M5 in stock and had just sold their last M3 stock at that time, and guess what they said..."The M5 is a way better car than the new M3 anyway..."! Car salesmen will be car salesmen

Thanks! I can't wait.

Here's a quick look at my recent current family trio, an '06 (750Li, 650Ci) and '08 (///M5); enjoy.

The 6er mostly... I have put the 7er out but the wife complains. You all know if the wife isn't happy, nor will the house be.

I know, I think I need a larger garage now.
