MSRP on my 2008 M5 was $98,200. I was able to get 4k off of MSRP. I am located down in socal.

I am not sure how it works in SoCal, but during my recent test drive here in PA, my salesman, who had no reason to lie to mean since I wasn't actually going to purchase the M5 (and he is a real "no BS kind of guy), told me that I could get the M5 for a better deal than most of the other cars on the lot, even the 3 series....They recently sold their $98K M5 a month ago at $1000 over invoice and another M6 for about $750 over invoice. He said that they hate to keep such high end cars on the lot for a long period, since they drain the dealer of funds every day it sits on the lot. The mark-up is around $8K, on the M5, so I think $4k off sticker is way too high. I'd shoot for no more than $2K over invoice....but start lower! Find out how long the car has been on the lot...the longer it's been, the better for you.

Ah..thanks for the input ! =)
So does it work for M5s that are ordered as well ? I'm under the impression that ordered cars generally are harder to negotiate than those on the lot..true ?

I order my M5 in June and took delivery at the end of August. I had friends whom purchased from the same dealer 08 M5's and they were only able to get 3k off of MSRP (bought right off the lot). I'm in Los Angeles and there is still a demand for the M's so the dealers are still trying to get as much as they can.

So..Los Angeles dealers don't compromise much on sticker ? Guess I shouldn't get my hopes too high on 7k off sticker deals for the M.. >.<
