Hey newbie here installed HID lights by John at motorcepts while ago just before going on overseas business trip, didn't realize then, now that I am back been driving, I've noticed HID bulb on the driver side seems to be dimmer on top portion (as you see in pic, I've darken the pic to see and both sides are airmed at same level) of the bulb compared to passenger side.

Took to John about this and he tells me this is normal for all m5s driver side light face towards down to the passenger side, but I am little skeptic.. I've seen other m5s and their lights weren't like mine. Is it supposed to be like this?

I would guess John is correct. Since in left-hand drive countries headlights are typically pointed down and right slightly so that you don't blind oncoming traffic with them. Obviously, in right hand drive countries it is the opposite. Haven't you ever noticed that the adaptive headlights turn MUCH further to the right than to the left? Same principle, there's nothing wrong.

Yes, when looking at it for head on, when looking at it slightly from the right it looks brighter. Typically when the bulb is bad the color of the light changes, usually to a purpleish hue.

Lol. It's not dimmer dude, it's just pointing lower because of the said reasons above.

did you open up the light and check the placement of the bulb? i opened my cover and my bulb wasn't seated correctly. i think one of the clips had broken.

check that.

also, when you shine your headlights up close to a wall at night, do the left and right horizontal beam cutoffs align up?

M5wer, Yes my driver side HID Angel Eyes is lowered as well. This is why your eyes play a trick in to thinking that the right side is "dimmer" then the left side. It's normal.
