Just get it John. Get one that covers SMG too, like Easy Care.

NEVER own a BMW out of warranty!!! If Mercury Insurance writes in Canada, I have a guy who can quote you a price on a warranty (PM me), I just hope that you are still under SOME warranty, as they become much more expensive if the car is not under warranty when they write the policy!

Hey Rich, yeah I have Easy Care. Originally I wasn't going to get an extended warranty cause I figured they would deny my claims anyway since my car was so heavily modded. I changed my mind when I had like 80 miles left on the OEM warranty and bought the Easy Care Total Care package for additional 3yrs/36K miles. Paid around $3200 for it. Glad I did cause I had a High Battery Drain issue soon after that took the dealer close to 40 days to fix and they replaced a bunch of things. Also had a passenger airbag malfunction that was fixed under warranty too. It could be that my dealer is mod-friendly so they didn't give me any grief even though they know everything I've done with my car.

BTW, I think it's also beneficial to get an extended warranty that your local dealer has a relationship with. That way, that insurance company won't ask too many questions on the claims and the entire process would be easier.

Gents i am OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY.. since 2010... I havent had ANY mechanical issues since then, but starting to have the battery drain issue now it seems.

Can i still get a warranty after the fact?

I will ask the SM at my local dealer today, but fuck now all of you have me worried!

OK Gents:

$4200+tax for 48mo/80,000KM warranty.

Covers everything but wearable items (brakes, trim, etc) and does not include aftermarket exhaust, etc.

SA tells me the pulley is no issue, worse case they remove it and put the factory one back on.

Also in regards to the Clutch they are saying because it is directly related to the SMG and that it is argueable to be an "automatic" that it should be covered if it goes.

Drivetrain (engine,tranmission,diffs,etc) are all covered.

Worth it or what?

Im thinkin based on resale value increase alone, and piece of mind, that i should purchase it.
