Definitely the E63 AMG--will be/is. The E55 AMG was so why not the newer one?

From all that i read it's this way (AS A GENERAL ROULE) the E55 will jump ahead slightly till 100-140km/h after that it's bye bye E55. I read reviews that others killed the E55 at starts also so in most of the cases driver counts alot also.
Also from roll-ons the M5 is the clear winner.
Whoa pardner.

I agree. I dunno how they would stack up at higher speeds (over 150km/h) and if the limiter is removed.
Torque is the main advantage of the E63 AMG vs the M5.
Right.

Indeed Znod. Things look close on the 1/4 but i don't resume to 1/4. I consider speeds of well over 200km/h also. And that's where i said the M5 absolutley shines.
Also i bet you allready knew the test from the M5 board with the roll-on battle between the M5 and the E55 AMG. After 4th gear it was bye bye amg. And many many other tests showed that roll-ons were pretty tight till the 4th gear and up where the amg starts too goof and where torque isn't that much important. trust me i know about the importance of torque even if it's in a narrow rev band. After 150-160km/h the torque really starts to fade away and pretty much not helping me at all.

I agree that the M5 may away pull after the end of the 1/4, but you said "the E55 will jump ahead slightly till 100-140km/h after that it's bye bye E55." Even at 140km/h, the cars wouldn't be much farther along than 1/8 mile. If what you are saying is true, then the M5 should win the 1/4 race handily. But, .

Ok what i said wrong? Depending on how the driver launches the amg you could see the m5 glued to the amg (as your tests show) or even the amg with a nose ahead till speeds of about 100-140km/h or so. 140km/h is quite close to the quarter mile trap speed. Ok maybe 160km/h would be closer. But if the m5 doesn't get it till that speed then for sure will pull away from it after that. I can't explain it better. As you can see even if the time is slighty worse in your examples for the m5 the trap speed is higher wich concludes and sustains that after the 1/4 the m5 will pull away without any doubt.
Do you want to post links on the m5 board where m5 owners even beat the E55 on the 1/4?!
So it's close. No doubt about that. 1/4 as i've seen everywhere is close but after that 1/2 and 1 mile is bye bye AMG. What's not clear about that? Also roll-on means a win 90% of the time for the m5.
BTW all the 4 tests were run with europe spec LC on the m5? Just curious...
Cheers!

I now am pretty close to agreeing with most of what you say. But, I already agreed. Thanks for replying in detail.

Its not. they're N/A. now.

I posted the same thing in Znods thread before too... there seems to be A LOT of mis-understanding with Mercedes New AMG engine. Its not supercharged anymore... nor bi-turboed for the V12... X 65 AMGs...

Theres actually a few other articles that pop up if you search for "Natually Aspirated Mercedes AMG Engine"

Right, I was wrong. No forced induction on the 63 engine.
