My Ride: 2005 530i 6speed
I just ran across this article. It appears that US dealers are pushing for a Manual transmission as an option to SMG.

My Ride: #1: 2004 545i; 6-speed manual; Sport Package; Mystic Blue with a gray leather interior and Anthracite wood; CWP; Logic 7.
#2: 2010 535xi Touring; Automatic.
I think AutoWeek made a reference to the 6-speed, as well, in the last issue.

Personally, I don't think a manual will be introduced. Some people at BMW AG are hemming and hawing. BMWNA are saying yes, but I haven't heard the word from corporate yet.

My Ride: 2007 530i, white/black manual, sports package, nav, PDC, etc.
Europeans seem to prefer manuals much more than Americans do. Many U.S. dealers won't order ANY manual 5 series cars for their inventory. Odd that we'd get a manual when Europe doesn't.

anyway it is up to you and the US to decide... for me as European also was strange but seems true, maybe they will have it as an option so they can burn engines better.-)

[/quote]Great point. The wait is about 2 years if you get on a list today. They're not going to introduce a manual as long as they're selling all the M5's they can make.
