M5 - Launch Control Redline/Slip Control
Hey guys,
Got my M5 in october and put on about 3300 kms on it before having to put it away for the winter.. did alot of testing and getting to know the car, but only one launch. When you launch if you put it to the floor after the takeoff you go right to redline.. do you have to feather the throttle so that it will hook up and truly redline with no wheel spin? The spin also causes aliitle bit of slide in the rear wheels too..Im asking because someone i know is challenging me with his Audi A4 tuned to 490 hp to the wheels and i wanna get this launch control down pat so i can dust his ass!!!
please comment.. rookie m5 driver here

The US LC is nerfed anyway so it won't rev above 2000 is my understanding. Euro LC is 4000. You don't need to feather the throtle, you will lose time that way. It will auto change up once it has enough traction to stop bouncing off the limiter. Best thing is that once you let go just keep foot flat down and it will auto change up in S6 the whole way.
Another good tip is NOT to have the EDC in level 3, the suspension is very stiff and this actually adds to the wheel spin. After playing around I found that EDC with just 1 light gives a better launch.
If you're still struggling as it points out in the manual you can adjust the revs down by pulling the cruise control stick towards you untill you have the best revs you want.
By far the BEST advice I can give is that if you are still on contis, ditch them and get PS2s they make a HUGE difference and really help with the launch.
BHP isn't everything but if he really has 490 at the wheels there is a good chance he is going to kick your ass! Depends on which A4 he has.....

The US LC does not auto shift. You have to shift yourself.

Actually....if he does have 490 to the wheels, he will undoubtedly kick your ASS !!! Without upgrades a M5's crank HP is just barely more. Factor in the HP loss to the wheels and you may not even want to run
