Interesting info... For Europe there seems to be a 4 km cool down period so once you use Launch Control you'll have to drive 4 km before using it again.

In the US I guess its 7 minutes.

Oh US Launch Control drops the clutch at 4000 rpms (same as regular production E60 SMGs Acceleration Assist) where as Europe drops the clutch at 4500 rpms.

I know with SMG II there are exact steps you need to do to engage Launch Control. Are these steps the same with SMG III?

No probably not. If I had to guess it would probably be Disabling all the traction control, putting the car in ///M mode and holding the left (downshift) paddle and rev the engine. Once you release the paddle the clutch will engage.

I wish the 545i would allow the driver the opportunity to control when "launch" occurs.

Ya that would be nice...

Hey whats the reaction time on the launch for the 545? Like if you were to run it on a drag strip would you have to step on the gas like by the 2nd yellow light? I figure by the last one it'll be too late as the car would need to take your input on gas pedal, then rev the engine to 4K then dump the clutch...

Where as the M5 you would be reving at 4K with the Downshift paddle engaged ready for launch and then just release the paddle when very close to green light.

P.S. Yes, for those that ask how come I dont know? Cuz I still havent intentionally tried AA before.

Give it a whirl! You'll get hooked.

No way to tell which yellow to let'er rip at the drag strip.
That's the big issue.
You just nail it and wait for "it all to happen"!
And if you are not on a smooth and sticky surface the you'll just spin the right rear, bang (speed shift) second and THEN off you go.
It's kinda annoying, really.
