I am seriously considering trading in my 2008 528 and buying one of these M5's

Which one would you get??? The prices are really good because they are sold through a military car sales program here in germany. basically you get them tax free and at factory prices (like if you took delivery in Munich)

Here's the 2007 with SMG ($71k)

Full details and options: http://www.pentagoncarsales.com/preowned/h...hp?filterid=250

Here's the 2008 with 6 speed manual ($69.9k)

Full detals and options: http://www.bmwmilitary.com/usedcars/tradec...p?ident=CX08908

I have heard bad things about smg..... just wondering what any of you M5 owners have to say.

Which would you buy???

The blue one. Just because I like LeMans Blue! Plus its cheaper. Theres nothing back about SMG.

6 speed manual, but again that MY opinion, you should buy what YOU like, not let any members influence your decision

I'm with you on that. The 2008 is cheaper too. I think because the 07 has the Logic 7 sound and perforated leather and SMG.

I drove the blue one on the autobahn and was absolutley floored by the speed and the formidable sound of it. Traffic was moving out of the way jsut to take a look at the car!! Awesome ride.

No brainer - I test drove both. Off the line if your goal is to beat everyone 0 - 40mph - go for the stick. But there is little chance from moving starts that you will outshift the smg.

If you're tracking go with the stick. I tried both on the track. the smg is difficult in the twisties because of the paddles (hands get tangled), I reverted to the center console shift.

You mean interlagos blue? I don't think the work lemans should be used in the same sentence with BMW.

BUY IT!

I read your other thread about getting the M-Tech kit and some wheels for your new 528i. If you really want an M5, why waste your money on cosmetics on the 528i when you can buy this! It looks meaner and you have the power to back that statement up.

Is the 2007 pre-LCI, and the 2008 LCI? I know that would be the case in a "mortal" E60 but am not sure if the M5 has received the LCI treatment? If one is indeed LCI and one not, then get the 2008 LCI. Personally I am not a "manual" fan, but hey, I drive a diesel, what do I know about proper cars eh?
