M5: 2005 VS. 2006 VS. 2007 VS. 2008

Nothing major to speak of ... the SMG transmission is standard, but a 6-speed manual was introduced for the U.S. market starting with the 2007s.
Other than that, the same LCI changes that all E60s got for 2008 apply to the M5. Plus, soft-close doors and a heated steering wheel are now available on the 2008s.
The reliability seems to have improved greatly from the early production 2006 model year examples that first came into the U.S. Lot's of SMG issues with those early productions .... but you hear very little about any problems on the 2007s or 2008s.

I DONT think there is that much change in the M5, apart from a transmission change in US only i believe, everyone that around UK local, is got SMG at the meets.
Never the less there will some interior changes and maybe face lift, but no engine change or improvement YET?
