It's my biggest regret that I didn't do this when I had the M.

I know C asked me about it, but I am not sure if the class is transferable if the original owner doesn't use it within the first year.

Sounds like you had a blast!

DrLev, you didn't go?! Oh man, sorry to hear! Since you didn't go, I highly suggest you try out M School. I plan to go back next year for their 2-day gig. There's nothing like drifting a 4000 lb. car around some corners!

Unfortunately, C won't be eligible to take the complimentary class since he's not the original owner. To be eligible, the original owner has to fax a copy of the original bill of sale as proof of ownership to BMWNA within the first year of purchase.

So weird this thread came up. My wife got me the M driving school class for a gift. Doing the 2 day class in the Spring. I can't wait!!! I'm just a bit nervous that upon my return, I'll practice everything I learned and reac havoc around my town. My M5 will become notorious.

I was originally considering doing the Skip Barber's Racing and Driving School, as I know members gregg2gs and poleposition have taken it, but you don't drive any BMW M cars. Since these schools, along with the M school, are not cheap, I figured my money was better spent on learning these techniques on a car that I actually drive every day.

As for the complimentary class, I called BMW last month and they said no can do, even though the original owner only had a few months on the car. I even escalated the call to a manager, but they wouldn't give. It's ok though. I think the M Driving School class for 2 days will teach me everything I need to know about my car and then some.

I'm thinking about going down to this plant in January though, to pick up my wife's X5 4.8 and drive it back up to NY. I figure that will be a good break in period and give us the opportunity to check out the SC Plant.

Great pix Roleez! Looks like a total blast!

PS - Just curious, but did they have any Dinan M cars down there?

C,

There are no Dinan-spec'd cars there. Just stock BMWs everywhere. BTW, if you elect to take delivery of a new BMW at the Performance Center, BMW will pay for one night's hotel at the Marriott, breakfast, lunch, and dinner the day of delivery, and ... a complimentary driving class (using their cars)!

Congrats on the M School! You'll definitely love it!

Funny you mention this... I'm ordering my wife's new X5 4.8 this week. It will be ready end of January/early Feb and I was thinking about flying down and driving it back. Would the X5 count towards this offer?

Of course! Any BMW is eligible for Performance Center delivery. And all the above perks apply, so bring your wife too! Just make sure to talk to your dealer so they can arrange for delivery in South Carolina.
