So I found a M5 locally and wanted to get some advise on it. 06 with 48kmiles with every options. The owner would have BMW pay to verify everything on the car, 1 owner, all records. Belts, sparks, and a bunch of other maintenance just performed. Car is black on black with a race exhaust, fast as shit. He's asking $35k, I can probably get it for $35,500, he is making around $1500 on it, since the guy buys all the stuff from auctions. Showed me the auction receipt. I just can't decide if I want to get myself into payments for years again. I'm 23 now, how much do you think insurance might run me, I'm 200 a month right now on my 525, and I'm calculating maybe my monthly gas bill would double? I'd maybe finance 27k, and can get 1.9% loan.

Damn, you guys are young! Yes, you will pay a premium price for car insurance at your age. If you can afford it and live comfortably, I say go for it. You only live once, and it will be tougher to justify purchasing an M5 if/when you settle down and start a family of your own. Good luck!

The price is OK, remember the new M5 is coming out next year in US so the prices will drop a bit more.
You need to factor other things, such as repairs and of course your insurance will go up with the M5, call your insurance company prior and get a quote> Remember you need full coverage if you finance. If you decide to buy it, get the extended warranty if I doesn't have one, it will help you on the long run.
Driving an M5 is certainly a pleasure, but it will cost you.
good luck

Yeah part of the reason why I want to get one young now, I may have a family eventually so I might as well have a fast car. It sounds like I may just need to wait it out a bit and find a deal that leaves no question I'm doing the right thing, like a 2008+ with a full warranty. After riding in the m5 yesterday I'd say it will be worth it when I get one.

don't even think twice... just get an M5 without any foot notes or questions. You can never go wrong with an M5. If it is a 6 speed with a manual clutch - it is even better.
Even More Fun.!!!
it is the Best car you will ever own...[ except if it is a Beand new one obviously ]

+1000 Kaizen stated it perfectly. If you can fit the extra insurance and gas into your budget - do it. I still regret not picking up an E39 M5 when I had the chance and I was single, now? I have to wait until we get our kitchen remodeled

I was looking at an M5 last year when they were more, my insurance wouldn't insure the car  I'm 22 now and still pay 400+ a month  I say go for it if it's 6MT
