I'm on your team. I love my RR but repair and maintenance is $$$. I just turned 112k on mine. I need a radiator and coolant reservoir

Hey, take your RR discussion elsewhere! J/K

sf550i, that's a nice discount on Dinan parts. When I modded my 545, I went directly to Dinan's Morgan Hill facility and got a great package deal on my mods. Thereafter though, they haven't budged much on the pricing. I still keep in contact with Eric Bateman there and he's very knowledgeable and helpful.

I had always liked RDSport way back in the early 90s when my friend had a full Racing Dynamics equipped 535. I even had Racing Dynamics wheels on my modded VW Scirocco. So when it came to my M5, I decided to give them a try. I'm very happy with their products so far. Their lowering springs are the most aggressive for the M5 so far and it gives the car a forward sloping stance whereas Dinan springs are the most conservative and from the pictures I've seen, the front on Dinan cars seem to have a bigger gap than the rear. I'm also getting a pretty good discount on RDSport stuff so their pricing is comparable to Dinan and other tuners.

I don't think you can go wrong if you stick to one vendor like Dinan since their products are made to work well with each other. I actually might still mingle some Dinan parts with my RDSport stuff. Right now, I'm debating on the RDSport headers/cats/EMS and might get the Dinan diff later on.

Sorry for rambling on. You can ping me anytime to chit chat about mods.

Tony

Me too, I'm an M5 owner. I came from an e46 M3 but I hardly posted on M3forum. I like this site because there are a lot of DIY pages, I think more so than M5board, but I am on there also. And yes the oil burn issue sucks!!! I add 1 bottle every 2-3K miles, and I keep 2 in the trunk.

On the subject of oil mine has seemed to stablize already??

Added 1qt (oh sorry 1L) at about 2500 miles (waited for dash to read 0.1L for a bit and 1L brought it to 0.9L) and now I am approaching 5K and still sitting at 0.8L.

I have noticed that if I get on the freeway for at least 30 minutes or so then it would seem to drop fast.

Not sure if it has been a while since I had a long drive on the freeway, but I'll be heading to SF tomorrow from San Jose and back, so we'll see.

Wondering if the dealer reset my oil gage correctly after break-in via the gt1 or whatever the heck and if that even matters anymore. There is a service bulletin on M5Board regarding something about this and the oil used for break-in needing the alogorithim to be reset.

I'll let you guys know if my oil drops at all after the trip to SF. If it doesn't I am worrying that it may be dropping and I don't know it or maybe I just got lucky and seated the rings nicely or something (hopefully the later). Nice that I haven't had to add oil for about 2500 miles so far, but kind of wondering.

Trip to S.F. and back to San Jose. On the way there with a few 1.30 spurts and .90 to 1.15 for the most part the oil dropped from 0.8L to 0.7L (seems to be about the same amount of miles to get from 0.9L to 0.8L, though). No drop after the return trip which was much slower at 5pm.

Mine seems to be barely using oil. Maybe a change for the 2008? Or maybe something to do with break-in?

I am not complaining, but at this rate if I do the math .2L loss over 2,500 miles would equate to 12,500 miles between quarts and I plan to change oil every 7K or so anyways. Hmm, what to do with the two quarts in the trunk

If this keeps up I will not miss topping off the oil as I have done it for the last 5-years a lot with the old E39 M5.

Yeah, it is definately a ghost town in here as far as the M5 side of this board. Think I'll start hanging out on the E60 side when not on m5board.

I have about 3500 miles and 1 litre of the good stuff was used so far.
