I have seen only one M5 while driving around these parts, which is amazing because I know Fields BMW and Knauz BMW have sold a boat-load of 'em. I guess they are all garage queens.

But a few evenings ago I was leaving a nearby shopping plaza (where I picked up the newest car mags at Borders Books) and there was a Beast just in front of me! Sapphire Black. Looked fantastic and sounded even better. He was making the same turns I was making to head back home, so I was content to just look and listen (oh, the sounds that car makes ) as I followed along.

Then he turned off where I would normally go straight ahead, and I saw him turn into his driveway - so I quickly turned and followed him into his driveway. (I am such a dork).

I jumped out of my 550i and asked "please tell me you hate your M5 and that it wasn't worth all that money and that you want to trade for my 550 right now?"

No such luck. He's owned his Beast for 2 months now and loves it! It's all broken in and he's already had it on the track ... "it's fast, very fast."

That car is like crack cocaine - I'm sure if I drive one just once I will do something very foolish with my money.

Excellent.

I agree with the M5 owner though. Go try one & you'll be hooked.

I had so much fun in London yesterday afternoon & this morning, just gunning it off the lights & watching everyone look where the fabulous noise was coming from. The same is achieved when the donwshift blip is heard. I also noticed just how many people stopped to admire my car this afternoon when i pulled into a motorway service station for a coffee. As it was a nice day i sat outside & was admiring my Blue Beauty & it appears my view is shared, as in the 15mins i was sat their, about 9 people wandered over to have a good look at the car.
