I just saw this thread. Always call the cops, never just exchange information. I learned the hard way when some douchebag CEO cheapskate hit me in his mercedes. I exchanged information, and as soon as I called insurance he made all these bullshit stories up saying I RAN A REDLIGHT! There were no lights for miles, and it was his word against mine. He was 100% at fault. I got nothing out of it. If I would have called cops, I could of gotten 3k or so in damages. I feel for the first guy in the cab, but not sure I would do the same in that situation after the d-bag hit me, and I was out the money. I'm calling the cops for ANYONE that even lightly damages my car.
