Fantastic job. Your car looks incredible!

My wife feels every bump on the road. She compared driving in my erstwhile M3 to riding a stagecoach. While she doesn't complain too much about the 550, she is very concerned about the speed I take corners and feels the accelerations and cornering may cause a disc herniation in her neck. She loves the ride of her Lexus RX 330 which is comparable to driving a marshmellow.

Thanks - my wife is German, so that must help...

For another data point on the ride - I spent an hour giving another M5 buyer a ride around town. He currently has an M3, and said this car definitely rides better than his M3. I had the car in both comfort and normal settings. It is a firm ride, but definitely not harsh, and I'd put the 'normal' setting as just a bit softer than the M3.

Wolverine,
What H&R Spring did you get? Sport or Racing? I'm actually in the same situation as you. I already have H&R 10mm spacers for my rear. Haven't installed them yet. Looking to get H&R Sport Spring with 1.3" drop front and 1.2" drop rear. The gap in my rear wheel well is bugging me to no end. TIA.

There was only one set available from H&R when I bought the springs. They drop a little over 1" in front, and 3/4 inch in back. The ride is terrific - took my wife, her 77 yr old parents and 72 year old aunt out to dinner last week, and they loved the car.

With the lowered springs, have you encountered any rubbing in either the front or back while doing spirited driving? I like to do spirited driving like you. I have see your stories over in bimmerforums.

Me again. I think I've made up my mind and will not go forward with the H&R Sport Springs. I'll just get my spacers installed next week. Thanks for your help.
