Having just recently discovered this forum, may I say that the wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for the M5 is impressive. My qustion is this:
Does BMW offer the M5 for Eurpoean delivery? The web site shows all the models and their price for ED, but neither the M3 of the M5 are shown. Having taken a ED on my current MB (and now having seen the error of my decision), I also want to experience the thrill of driving a BMW on the Autobahn. And the prospect of it being an M5 is almost too much to fathom.

I have an E320, nice car. like it better than a previous Lexus LS430, but I am ready for a real car. The experience of seeing the factory where your car is built is pretty awesome, especially when you see all that comes together to make it work. Still, looking forward to the BMW factory tour, but I want it with an M5. Is it possible, or am I dreaming?

I believe it is possible, but, as I understand it, the M5 will not be available for another year. I was curious about your choice of cars as I was debating getting a MB E55 until the M5 came out. However, after much deliberation and comparison driving, I opted for the 545 sport smg even though there is a big difference in horsepower and speed between the MB e55 and the BMW 545.

Well, show me a 4 passenger sedan with 500 hp, the type of performace and handling found in this car, and I'll listen. Granted, there is now no manual transmission, but I have to believe that the SMG tranmission will handle better than a prior 6 speed, and the responsiveness of the car appears to be incredible. With all the numbers as given, it will be well worth the wait.

I believe that BMW does not allow ED on M cars from time to time. I was told that was the case 2 generations of M5's ago. No word yet, keeping my fingers crossed.

ED has to be the only way to take delivery. The first drive, in her homeland. Those that have taken an ED, I assume the car is prepped for an ocean voyage the same as a normally delivered car (i.e. wax coating blah blah....)

dlp, I confirmed with the Euro Delivery folks a couple of weeks ago that the M5 will be on the program for 2006.
