Sorry if this has been linked before- I don't spend much time over by the M5 forum. I thought it was illustrative of the torque vs HP battle and its something that's always talked about by others when comparing 535d vs 545i.

Yes, imo and from my experience i found that torque gives better accelerations at low to mid range speeds and as the speed climbs 180+ km/h then hp comes in as a decisive factor where torque starts too loose and gets faded as you pass the 200-220km/h mark. As a general rule: torque gives accelerations and hp gives high top speed.

I think both of those cars belong to Steve Dinan. I was at their facilities in Morgan Hill a few months ago when they were fitting the Dinan wheels on his new white E60 M5.

That was also when a red e39 M5 (probably the supercharged S3-M5) blew by me as if I was standing still.

The E39 S2 belongs to a member on www.m5board.com that goes by "Alpineblue". The other E60 M5 does belong to Dinan. Go here- http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthrea...ight=alpineblue
