I had my E60 M5 now for a while now and was wondering what kind of exhaust would be work best with the car? I was thinking about straight pipes....what do you guys think? I mean I love the sound that the stock exhaust make but I want something more attention getting..... perhaps flames out of 'em???

A few weeks ago I was in Belgium. I saw a really nice M5 parked with different exhaust tips. The tips looked fantastic. I told my brother in law that this wasn't a normal exhaust and that I was curious how it sounded.
When we were walking back to the carpark I thought I heard a 1992 VW golf GTI with a rainpipe welded underneath instead of an exhaust.. The sound was really hard and not nice at all.. At that moment the M5 drove past us.. The sound was horrible.. I think this guy had fitted straight pipes under it. I didn't like it at all.

Supersprint or eisemann race. The best sound i've heard for an E60 m5. Also about that flames i think it's too much, but there are such dvices i think, that generate flames although i'm not sure. Flames come especially form high compression ratios engines, that rev high, and have rather straight echausts, and when they downshift hard some gas remains unburned and in contact with the hot exhaust, you get the flame.

Be careful. A number of people who bought the eiseman race exhaust have removed it and replaced it with the stock exhaust because it was too loud.
I removed just the resonator, and replaced it with two straight pipes, and the sound is perfect. the nice thing is, if I didn't like it, I could have put the resonator back - it only cost a few hundred bucks. It's definitely louder, but not so loud that you really notice it at idle, or when you start up the car up cold. Nothing irritates people like having a car that wakes them up when it starts in the morning.
