Drive it home and rack those miles up to get ready to gangbang the hell out of that car

I live in GA but picked up mine in NYC. Drove it back home (870) miles. This was suggested to me by the dealership.

Just wanted to offer my two cents...I have always been a BIIG block seasoning kinda guy. I usually take several 20-30 mile trips from a cold engine to operating temp back to cold if possible in between. From what I remember about physics, the slow and intermittant heating and cooling of metal leads to a harder metal rather than a brittle metal. Whether you take a long or short trip, the operating temperature is mostly constant. You accomplish the same thing but a lot longer mileage to accomplish it by taking a long trip. By that I mean a long trip is equivalent in my "seasoning" mind as a short one. The metal gets warm, expands, wears then cools and contracts again. I have had several cars including a 1987 944T, a 1996 C36, a 2002 Z06 and have had all of them for a couple hundered thousand miles with no evidence of internal problems or oil usage. You can do what you want. Its your car. I am just giving you my two cents.

The engine was already placed on a dyno and run the hell out of for a period of time. I would just abide by the 1200mi. break in and not worry about it

I just got my M5 this past Saturday, and during a "spirited" driving Sunday...I accidentally hit 145mph...How much damage did or could I have done to my car? It has 200 miles now...I just didn?t realize it was just this fast?
